As the
gulf coast of the United States assesses the damage wrought
by Hurricane Katrina, the death toll continues to rise
alongside the threat of further complications such as disease.
In New Orleans, even the shelters are no longer a safe refuge. Many are
wondering what they can do to help the devastation and the
inevitable aftermath.
This site is a place where you can donate any amount,
via credit card or PayPal account, to a PayPal fund set up for this
event. Every
cent will be donated to an Americares
Foundation fund specifically for Hurricane
Katrina relief.
This method seems to work. From December 27, 2004 through
January 10, 2005 (just 15 days), this site raised $9,292.12 from
Internet users all over the world who wanted to help in the wake of the
devastating tsunami that struck southern Asia. Every penny
was sent to the Americares Foundation with not a cent of overhead.
If, instead of contributing
here, you would rather donate directly to a charity that is set up to
provide disaster relief for this particular tragedy, follow one of the
donations links below or find another avenue to donate. This site is an
easy way for you to send a few dollars (or more) that may already be
sitting in your PayPal
account, or donate directly from a credit card
or checking account
and let those small donations amount to something bigger as a
community. As you can see, the donations really begin to add up!
Thank you all for your
generosity!

Many people have requested a tile to put on their own web sites, and
two guys have created a great one. Feel free to use this! Thanks so
much to Steve and John who created and coded it!

- What an overwhelming response! We are well on our way to the $10,000
mark, and $6,000 has already been tranferred to Americares. Thank you
all so much!

- Another fine Netizen has created a "Katrina
Info Exchange Board." Check it out and find ways you can
communicate and help those affected.

- We're just shy of our first $1000 already! I'm going to contact
Americares again to see if their fund is in place. If so, the first
$1000 will be transferred to them immediately!
Also, another Netizen is creating a page to hopefully link people who
have beds and shelter with people who need it. The project is here, and
if you can lend a hand I know he'll appreciate it:

- I'm posting several of the letters I recieved from Americares after
the donations were made for the Tsunami Donation Relief
Fundlast December and January.
Everyone deserves to see that their money was sent as promised. You'll
find them here:

- The only real "promotional efforts" I've made for this site are up and online. If you have ideas
for promotion or would like to link to this page from your own, please
just go ahead and do so, then email me.
Thanks!

Site Launch. Can lightning
strike in the same place twice? If you were part of the Tsunami Donation Relief
Fund, you'll know that within two weeks this little site
raised over $9,000 to be sent to the Americares Foundation.
Now that this new natural disaster is upon us, I'm hoping this site can
again be a resource to help direct funds where they are so desperately
needed. Thank you all for your kindness and generosity!
