I have several finished pieces here
as well as a few works in progress.
The
Delivery and On Ice - May 4, 2005
Originally short stories, The
Delivery and On Ice began to expand. They now find
themselves as parts of a larger
story that is under development. Unfortunately, that necessitates that
they be removed from the site, at least for now.
The
Bus Ride
For Phil, today's usual ride home from work might change
his perspective of life forever. This story is slated to be
published in the August 2002 issue of "Amarillo Style"
magazine. 1874 words.
The
Bridge
An old man who is preparing to take his life is
unwittingly pulled into a dangerous situation and forced to take
action. 2,365 words.
An
Old Friend
Jakob searches for a familiar face in the crowd, but what
he finds is something he never could have expected. This one is
pretty short, weighing in at just 1,793 words. This is the
updated version that was published in "Amarillo Style"
magazine in November, 2001.
Circus
A very short piece (721 words in this version), "Circus" was
written as an assignment to write about something
"scary". The type of situation portrayed in this little
story is horrifying to me, although it might not be what the average
reader thinks of when they think of scary. An editor of a magazine
asked for the right to publish this piece, but after the tragedy on
September 11, 2001, they decided it was too "dark", and
changed their minds. What is your reaction to the story?
The
Best Days
This was written in an hour and a half for a contest. I've not doctored
it up yet, but plan to, because I like the story.
Design
Flaw
This short story is fully written, and is in it's third
draft. It's a story about something that's becoming more and more
typical every day--overworked and under appreciated IT (Information
Technology) staff. This story highlights one fictional situation
that may not have a happy ending. It's quite long, currently 5,457
words. I broke it into two parts so that it isn't quite as
cumbersome to navigate on the web site. Your comments and
critique are crucial!

The
Guru on the Wall
This is a 55 word short story, written as a project for a class. I
never knew just how short 55 words could be! I had written several
paragraphs, not nearly to the ending, and when I checked, it was 178
words. It had to have a character, some form of character
description, a conflict, and a resolution. It was a fun challenge!
