Redstone

12:00 pm Poetry

Description: Very short poem, written in 2001, inspired by eight years of marriage and Redstone, Colorado. I have a soft spot for this one.

River freezing like the
Memory of yesterday
And hurried along over
Rounded stone and fallen branch while
Fingers twist around each other
Chasing innocence
But finding hope
In tomorrow’s adventure
When years like petals fall
Rose colored sweet
And hover slow on carefree drifts
Of crisp air toward
Pine needles crushed beneath
Feet which almost float
But ground themselves
In experience and laugh
At naivety.
